The kids are all outside (except for Dale, who is playing with Little Man), so it’s the perfect time to get my craft on! I’ve been busy today. I started off by making a rice bag – I made one for Felice’s husband for Christmas, and he would like another one (one for each knee), so I needed to get that done.
Then I moved on to a project I’ve been wanting to make for a while – a little diaper and wipes case. I’d rather not take the whole diaper bag every time I need to do a quick diaper change, so here’s my nifty new case!
Then I decided to make a headband for Kristi that would match the skirt I made for her yesterday. I’ll show you the whole ensemble tomorrow (she’ll wear both for church), but for now here’s the headband.
And finally, I got tired of fighting with my tiny little pincushion, so I decided to make a larger one that wouldn’t move all over the place. I like the idea of the mason jars with pincushion tops, but I didn’t want it to take up that much space. What I decided to do is use an old mason jar lid and make the pincushion the same way (as the ones in the link), but instead of using it to top a jar, I turned it upside down, put sand in the now-upside-down lid, then hot glued cork to the bottom of the ring. Now I had a weighted pincushion! I thought it needed a bit more “oomph” though, so I hot glued buttons around the ring just for the fun of it. (Sorry for the blurry shot – these are all cell phone pictures.)
Here’s a peek at the bottom.
Whew! I’m exhausted! Well…that might be an overstatement. I’m just ready to move on to something else…like boys’ haircuts. (Not nearly as much fun as crafting!)

My boy is in sad need of a hair cut. Shall I send him over? ;)
